Scalable Renewable Energy for True Sustainability Impact

Whether your goal is to support the development of new renewable assets or position your brand as a sustainability leader, we offer solutions with or without physical supply. Additionally, we can provide a renewable energy solution for your locations in regulated markets.

Support Clean Energy with Renewable Energy Credits (RECs)

Project RECs: Asset or Project Specific

Project RECs are from an existing renewable asset and support marketing claims that point to a specific renewable project. Project RECs can be purchased with or without Green-e® certification.

Green-e® Certified Market RECs

Green-e® Certified RECs are purchased on the open market as independently certified RECs by the Center for Resource Solutions, meeting specific criteria for renewable energy generation. In some cases, these can be purchased at a lower price than project RECs, offering an opportunity to optimize costs.

EFECs or Carbon-Free Power

Carbon-free generated energy is verified via emission-free energy certificates (EFECs). Eligible fuel types may include both new and existing types, such as Solar Photovoltaic, Solar Thermal, Wind, Hydro, Nuclear, Tidal Energy, and Wave Energy.

We also have simplified renewable supply options, tailored to fit load profiles and low-carbon objectives. With portfolioRE, physical volumes of renewable energy – either wind or solar – are incorporated into traditional retail supply contracts along with renewable energy certificates (RECs).

With a large customer base, the product can be leveraged to support the construction of new local clean energy facilities. It can also be tailored to supply physical volumes from existing assets, such as Live Oak – ENGIE’s 200 MW, 76-turbine wind farm near San Angelo, Texas.

As organizations pursue deeper decarbonization, the next frontier in clean energy is not just how much renewable power you use, but when you use it. Load-following renewable energy solutions from ENGIE are designed to match your electricity consumption with clean energy generation on an hourly basis, delivering a more precise and impactful sustainability strategy.

What Is Load-Following Renewable Energy?

Traditional renewable energy contracts often rely on annual matching, where Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are used to offset total yearly consumption. While this method is effective, it doesn’t account for the timing of energy use. Load-following solutions go further by aligning clean energy generation with your actual usage patterns, hour by hour.

Why It Matters

Hourly matching provides a more transparent and credible path to emissions reduction. It ensures that renewable energy is used when it’s most needed, reducing reliance on fossil fuels during peak demand periods.
This approach supports:

  • Stronger sustainability claims through real-time alignment of usage and generation
  • Improved emissions accounting with more accurate carbon impact reporting
  • Greater grid reliability by encouraging renewable generation that supports demand curves

Load-following renewable energy is a transformative step toward 24/7 carbon-free electricity. Whether you’re just beginning your sustainability journey or looking to deepen your impact, ENGIE can help you build a strategy that’s as smart as it is sustainable.
