Smart Energy Decisions (SED) has published its second annual State of Corporate Sustainability Report.  The study, a collaboration between SED and Acuity Brands, highlights the major drivers, trends and challenges in the energy transition as told by more than 200 customers.

  • 57% of respondents are in early stages of using energy and sustainability data to meet net zero targets.
  • Energy efficiency appears as a priority over the purchase of green energy
  • Sustainability, Energy and Procurement departments are the most active roles in sustainability efforts.
  • Customers who are “advanced” in their journey allocate $250,000 or more annually to support carbon accounting and sustainability reporting.
  • Barriers to implementing sustainability strategies include data quality, labor, and lack of internal support.
