Our Planet-Friendly Power Principles
ENGIE, a pioneer in the development of renewable energies, doesn’t prioritize wind over solar. All renewable energy sources have a place, as the move towards carbon neutrality gathers pace, which is why, right from the start, ENGIE has opted for an energy mix built on the diversity and complementarity of these energy sources. We have 3 principals to our approach.
#𝟏: The diversity of renewable energy sources is essential to adjust supply and demand.
- Our purpose is to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy. We acknowledge that a carbon-free energy mix is needed to reach our goal, so we are working on both reduced energy consumption and different energy sources in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
#𝟐: We can better promote the assets of each region thanks to the diversity of our renewable energy sources.
- We develop diverse renewable energy sources that support the region and industry in the deployment of local and carbon-free production infrastructures. These infrastructures offer clean and resilient means of production, shorten the supply chains, and promote local energy resources and production. This model was proved during the COVID-19 pandemic.
#𝟑: It is the linking of renewable energy sources that will enable us to attain carbon neutrality.
- Since 2019 renewable energy capacity has been increasing. Technological improvements, economies of scale, and competitive performance of supply chains have decreased the cost of electricity from renewable sources and therefore increased growth of capacity. Even with these improvements, we need to do more. We need to connect renewable energy sources to different sectors to make our grid stronger, more profitable, and more reliable.
